In November 2022 Breedon made the decision to go for their first Lippmann screeners in the form of two L520s-3’s from Agg-Pro, a decision that has paid dividends in both driving efficiencies and lowering operational costs.
Through onsite excavation and conventional blasting, Wenvoe Quarry produce 360,000 tonnes of limestone per year.
This serves to produce a high volume of different materials, and therefore creates a hugely significant need for highly efficiency screening.
Lippmann screeners are renowned for high production rates across multiple products, a factor that was key in Breedon’s decision to opt for the L520.
Producing a range of end materials is a fundamental requirement for Breedon and features such as adjustable screenbox angles allow adaptability and mean they can process a wide range of material applications.

We caught up with Andy Wickham, Quarry Manager for Breedon at Wenvoe Quarry to get his take on the new additions to his fleet.
Commenting on the flexibility of the screens, Andy said “They give us a lot of range to produce a variety of products. The combination with our primary and secondary crusher gives us a lot of flexibility and we can change the configuration very rapidly to produce a different range of products.”
Having had the two L520 for a relatively short time frame, Andy was more than happy with their performance and is keenly looking forward to better working conditions that will yield even better results.
“Their performance so far has been very encouraging. We’re looking forward to later in the year, where with dry conditions we foresee getting a very, very good production rate and very low downtime with the material we have.”
A significant contributing factor in purchasing the Lippmann screeners was the ability to reduce running costs via the dual power capabilities of the L520, along with the ability to run from either removable genset or mains electricity. Seamlessly switching power sources has allowed for more fuel efficient and cost-effective screening at Wenvoe.
The Lippmann L520s is built to the highest-grade specification using superior quality component parts. All in all, making for a very durable machine, a characteristic that was a must have for Andy and Breedon.
“We are looking at a variety of parameters when we’re considering the machines. The feed rate and durability is a major thing.”

Having successfully put their trust in Agg-Pro numerous times previously, Breedon did so again to deliver not only exceptional machinery, but unrivalled service and support. As such, Andy was keen for this to continue.
“The Lippmann screens we have here were supplied by Agg-Pro and they are also providing service and backup to us since the purchase of these machines.
“To date, this has been a very satisfactory system.”
